Environmental Policy
Deadline Express is a NZ owned and operated time-critical courier company. Our aim is to reflect industry best practice with our environmental policy.
At Deadline Express we are committed to environmentally responsible business. We believe that we have a role to minimise our impact on the environment and to promote environmentally friendly policies for our workplace.
We are taking seriously the threat of global warming and the impact on the planet of carbon emissions.
Waste Management
Our aim is to manage waste and minimise the consumption of carbon based fuels and non-renewable resources.
- Turn off power when not in use
- Use energy efficient bulbs when possible
- Recycle ink cartridges for office printers
- Recycling bins at convenient places in office for bottles and plastic
- Regular collection for recycling of paper rubbish
- Encourage staff to use electronic forms of communication over paper based ones
In addition we will only use recycled paper for our office stationery, if this is not possible we will use paper milled from renewable sources.
Email and Web
We have a strong commitment to using technology to increase efficiency in our workplace practices.
- Encourage customers to receive invoicing electronically, and to make payments the same way to reduce paper usage.
- Use our website and email systems to keep customers up to date with changes in our services rather than paper based information trails.
Vehicles
As a courier company the majority of our carbon emissions are from our fleet vehicles, to minimize this impact we will:
- Promote the use of our cycle couriers when possible. They are an integral part of our fleet and we are continuing to develop and expand this service.
- When vehicles are replaced we will encourage our contractors to purchase on the basis of low fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
- Continue to train couriers on efficient driving which will include the integration of our environmentally aware policies.
Suppliers
When we deal with suppliers we will if possible use only those with environmentally friendly policies.
- Stationery for internal use to be recycled where appropriate.
- Have as preferred suppliers those with environmental policies and a commitment to recycling.
- The cleaning products that we use will all be environmentally friendly and minimise pollutants.
Environmentally Aware
Our aim is to incorporate our policies for the environment into all projects and continue to improve our efficiency and standards.
We will encourage staff to grow plants in their offices or work stations. This will include providing staff with plants and containers to improve their environment.
We will continue to have a smoke free environment and encourage staff to continue this within their own homes.
We will encourage staff to use recycling and other energy efficient practices in their home life as a follow on from what we practice at Deadline Express.
